14 Apr 2017 Setting up MySQL Cluster in the Oracle Bare Metal Cloud [62448]
By Mikael Ronstrom

Mikael blogs, "The Oracle Bare Metal Cloud service is an innovative cloud service. When looking at how it can be used for MySQL Cluster it is a great fit.

MySQL Cluster is a high availability solution. Oracle Bare Metal Cloud provides the possibility to have servers that only you use and thus two Oracle Bare Metal servers are definitely independent of each others hardware. If you want to also run synchronous replication with no dependence on network, housing and electricity you can place these servers in different availability domains in the same region. Thus it is possible to build individual clusters with very high availability.

It is still possible to use smaller virtual machines that share the machine with other simultaneous users..."

05 Apr 2017 MySQL High Availability tools - Comparing MHA, MRM and ClusterControl [62252]
Severalnines, April 5th 2017

Krzysztof Ksiazek blogs, "We previously compared two high availability solutions for MySQL - MHA and MariaDB Replication Manager and looked into how they performed fail-over. In this blog post, we'll see how ClusterControl stacks up against these solutions. Since MariaDB Replication Manager is under active development, we decided to take a look at the not yet released version 1.1.

All solutions provide flapping detection. MHA, by default, executes a failover once. Even after you restart masterha_manager, it will still check if the last failover didn't happen too recently. If yes (by default, if it happened in the last 8 hours), no new failover will happen. You need to explicitly change the timeout or set --ignore_last_failover flag..."
