4 Weekly Meeting Each Month

The South Florida Technology Alliance (SFTA) vBeers events happen four times each month, once each in these cities: Palm Beach Gardens, Oakland Park, Boca Raton and Miami.

These informal networking/social events provide a relaxed environment to meet with other hands-on IT professionals and promote the growth of IT in South Florida.

Feel free to arrive and depart at your convenience. People start gathering around 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM and most people leave by 8:30 or 9:00 PM.

Bob Rhubart blogs, "'How do I get started on containers?' Ashutosh Tripahi hears that question a lot.

"Not many people are doing these kind of things today in the production environment or even on a pilot basis, except for a few startups," he says. "One of the main reasons I see that enterprises are not using containers or Node.JS types of things is because they have monolithic applications built over a period of years, and it takes time to re-architect those applications."

As he explains, "the pain is, when you are adopting a new technology or new application, you may not be able to refactor those things that easily." But there is much to be gained by taking on that refactoring task and moving forward with adopting those next technologies...."

VMware, Inc. introduced major updates across its VMware vRealize cloud management platform to improve software-defined data center (SDDC) and cloud operations and accelerate application and infrastructure service delivery across hybrid clouds.

New releases include VMware vRealize Operations 6.6, VMware vRealize Automation 7.3, vRealize Business for Cloud 7.3, vRealize Log Insight 4.5 and vRealize Network Insight 3.4, which combine to provide enterprise customers with advanced intelligent operations and automated IT capabilities to more easily stand up and operate a VMware-based cloud. Additionally, VMware is introducing increased support for containers and configuration management solutions to ease moving applications from dev-test to production.

The VMware vRealize Suite enables customers to manage and provision at scale -- compute, network, storage and application services across hybrid cloud environments. The platform's comprehensive management capabilities for the SDDC and across multiple clouds help customers to address three common use cases -- intelligent operations, automated IT and DevOps-ready IT -- based on thousands of customer engagements.
