Sun has announced new configuration options for its Infinite Archive System (IAS), a fully integrated solution that allows customers to manage huge amounts of unstructured, and/or structured static data at significant savings over disk-only based archive systems. With this option, customers will find Sun StorageTek QFS and SAM-FS software, running on the robust Solaris Operating System integrated into IAS, enabling customers to use automated policy-based management.

Sun is transitioning the Sun Fire X4200 M2 Server line from its product list. The Sun Fire X4200 M2 is replaced by Sun Fire X4240 and X4250 product families. Many Sun Fire X4200 M2 parts are shared with the currently shipping Sun Fire X4100 M2 and have not reached their end of life (EOL) at this time.

Sun is adding Microsoft Windows Server 2008 with Sun x64 Rack Servers and Blades to its existing Windows ecosystems which already includes Windows certifications, Windows service support, and various Windows tools and utilities. Windows Server 2008 options will be delivered via XATO options and will consist of DVD media, a certificate of authenticity (COA) and documentation. Installation is not an option.
