Sun's SPARC Enterprise T5440 server received the Bronze Award as the 2008 server product of the year from SearchDataCenter.com. Writing for the online data center media group, Bridget Botelho says this midrange system "packs enough memory and CPU power to deliver up to four times higher performance per watt at about one-fifth of competitive servers".

Sun Posts Figures on Measured Watts/Measured Performance of Servers [21178]

Disagreement over the interpretation of power consumption figures on datacenter cooling continues throughout the industry, and BM Seer's latest blog duly notes the controversy.
