16 Jan 2012 Netra SPARC T4-2 SPECjvm2008 World Record Performance [25258]
The Netra SPARC T4-2 server demonstrates 41% better performance than the SPARC T3-2 server

Oracle's Netra SPARC T4-2 Server equipped with two SPARC T4 processors running at 2.85 GHz set a world record result of 454.52 SPECjvm2008 Peak ops/m on the SPECjvm2008 benchmark. This result surpassed the previous record, which was run on a similar product, Oracle's SPARC T4-2 server. This level of performance is 41% better than the SPARC T3-2 server and similar in performance to Oracle's SPARC T4-2 server. The Netra SPARC T4-2 server with hardware cryptography acceleration greatly increases performance with subtests using AES and RSA encryption ciphers. There are no SPECjvm2008 results published by IBM on POWER7 based systems.

09 Jan 2012 New SPARC T4-Based Carrier-Grade Servers Deliver 5x Performance Boost [25228]
Reduces TCO, Outperforms Intel Intaniam 1.7 GHz Processor

Oracle's new single processor Netra SPARC T4-1 and dual processor SPARC T4-2 servers, and the Netra SPARC T4-1B server module, give telecommunication service providers infrastructure built to meet the needs of today's market. These servers provide up to 5x better performance over the previous generation of servers. In recent tests running Oracle Communications ASAP on the new Netra SPARC T4-2 server, each SPARC T4 processor delivered 7.7x the performance of the Intel Itanium 1.7 GHz processor in an HP server. Combined with Oracle Solaris, these new Netra systems can reduce TCO and drastically shorten service development and deployment times.

07 Jul 2011 SPARC T3-1 Record Results Running JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Day in the Life Benchmark [24327]
Bests IBM POWER7, IBM X3650 M2 Servers

Oracle has set new benchmark records with the SPARC T3-1 Server running JD Edwards Enterprise One Day in the Life. Using an Oracle SPARC T3-1 server for the application tier and Oracle's SPARC Enterprise M3000 server for the database tier, a world record result was produced running the Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne applications Day in the Life benchmark run concurrently with a batch workload. Performance was 25% better than an IBM Power 750 POWER7 server that was not running a batch component. Space/performance was also 25% better for the Oracle product than for the POWER7 as measured by the online component. The SPARC T3-1 server based result is 5x faster than the x86-based IBM x3650 M2 server system when executing the online component of the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.0.1 Day in the Life benchmark. The IBM result did not include a batch component. The SPARC T3-1 server based result has 2.5x better space/performance than the x86-based IBM x3650 M2 server as measured by the online component. Other aspects of the benchmark result can be found at the link above.

24 Mar 2011 Netra SPARC T3-1 22% Faster Than IBM Running Oracle Communications ASAP [24048]
Single-processor Netra Outperforms Eight-processor IBM 570

Running the Oracle Communications ASAP application a single processor Oracle's Netra SPARC T3-1 server delivered 22% faster performance than an eight processor IBM Power 570 server. Higher order volume throughput was achieved by consolidating Oracle Database 11g Release 2 and Oracle Communications ASAP 7.0.2 software onto a single Netra SPARC T3-1 server, Brian Whitney notes in a BestPerf blog post. Oracle Communications ASAP is used by the world's leading communication providers to enable voice, data, video and content services across wireless, wireline and satellite networks, he writes. Whitney adds that the ASAP result which was run on the Netra SPARC T3-1 server is the highest single-system throughput ever measured for this benchmark.
