Among the many announcements from Oracle at JavaOne 2011 was the news that JavaFFX 2.0 is now available. JavaFX 2.0 is an advanced Java user interface (UI) platform for enterprise business applications and the next step in the evolution of Java as a premier rich client platform. Oracle also announced their intention to submit a proposal to open source the JavaFX platform as a new project within the OpenJDK Community. Oracle intends to initially contribute the JavaFX UI controls and related libraries; other JavaFX components are planned to follow in multiple phases.

With all the app servers now available (and forthcoming) for Java EE 6, it's helpful to have some expert guidance when deciding which to adopt. This is exactly what Arun Gupta provides in his blog post "Which Java EE 6 App Server: JBoss 6.0 or GlassFish 3.x?" Gupta points out some of the shortcomings in the JBoss app server (no SLA; JavaEE 6 web profile compliance only; minimal documentation), which make it less than ideal for a production environment in his view. An even stronger candidate than GlassFish 3.x, he suggests, is the soon to be released Oracle WebLogic 11g 10.3.4, which promises integration with Coherence, Fusion Apps and sophisticated deployment scenarios.
