Sun has gained more shares in the worldwide server market, establishing itself as the number one UNIX platform server vendor in the world for both revenue and unit shipments, reports Gartner Dataquest's 1QCY2006 Worldwide Servers Quarterly Statistics Database.
Seven members of the Technical Support Alliance Network or TSANet have been been presented with TSANet 2006 awards in recognition of their contributions in the area of multivendor support. Winners include Sun Microsystems, Intel, Oracle, Dell, Microsoft, Red Hat and HP.
Network Computing recognized Sun Ray Server Software 3.1 for its "great design, smooth integration and exceptional enhancement" with its Well-Connected Award for Best Design, Innovation or Enhancement in the Network Infrastructure category. Sun Vice President and CTO Hal Stern expects the company to continue looking into investing in Israel's technological talent. Stern, along with other Sun executives, visited Israel in May in recognition of Sun's 10th anniversary of engineering activity at its facilities in Herzliya, and to meet with the Aduva management team, who are now being integrated into Sun.
