SPEC Explores Energy Metrics for Servers

The Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC) has formed the SPEC Power-Performance Committee, which is charged with developing standard methods and metrics for comparing energy use by server-class computers. The non-profit SPEC includes among its members such businesses as AMD, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, IBM and Sun Microsystems.

Gives Users Additional Month to Transition to RoHS-Compliant System

Sun has announced a second last-order-date extension for the Netra 440 non-RoHS 1.6 GHz system, previously extended to June 1, 2006. The new last order date is now June 30, 2006, allowing customers further time to transition to the Netra 440 RoHS system.
