Partnership Rebuilds Virtual Library in Iraq
New Web Portal Gives Iraqi Engineers and Scientists Access to Journals

To help Iraqi engineers and scientists access key information necessary to the Iraq rebuilding effort, a new web portal has been developed by scientists, government agencies and help from Sun. The portal, the Iraqi Virtual Science Library (IVSL), provides scientists with access to more than 1 million articles from 17,000 journal titles from leading scientific publishers.

OpenSolaris Project Now Open to Students via Google Summer of Code Program
Join the Community

OpenSolaris is now part of the Google Summer of Code program, enabling students to participate in the Sun sponsored open source community on the opensolaris.org site, which offers a project overview and roadmap, discussion forums and resources for downloading the source, BFU archives and tools.

New Academic Sun Lab Opens in Jordan
Training Youth and Spreading Java Technology Knowledge

Sun opened its first academic lab at the King Hussein Foundation's Jubilee School in Jordan, reported strategiy.com. The Sun Academy at the Jubilee School is the first below the higher educational level. More Sun labs will follow in Jordan and other Middle Eastern countries.

Sun Begins Matching Grant Program in India
New Equipment and Upgrades Available

Sun Microsystems India will begin the Sun Matching Grant Program, according to a report on CRN-india.com. The program provides equipment to educational institutions that match the funds. Sun offered this program in India previously and it was successfully used by 45 educational institutions, CRN noted.
