Sun and Wipro Technologies have agreed on plans to establish the first Sun Center of Excellence for the Sun JavaTM Enterprise System in India. With this move, Wipro extends its 17-year-long relationship with Sun. Most recently Wipro, a provider of IT solutions and services to the Indian corporate market, became a global migration partner for the SolarisTM 10 Operating System (Solaris OS)[15956].

The new Sun Center of Excellence will become yet another member of the international network of organizations engaged in developing projects based on the Java Enterprise System. These projects are expected to involve identity management, portal technologies, service oriented architecture and grid computing, among other leading edge IT issues.

For its own part, Wipro Technologies will use the lab to develop and maintain re-usable solutions and architectures whose foundation is the Java Enterprise System, both in the Indian and the international markets. The facility will also enable Wipro to train its own staff engineers on the Java Enterprise System technology and to demonstrate that technology to its clients as solutions come to market.

Sun Centers of Excellence assist customers to tailor software solutions developed with the Java Enterprise System technology to their respective business needs, incorporating the Sun software development methodology and architectural best practices with corporate development infrastructure, while simultaneously enhancing the skills and productivity of IT staff.
