GE Security, a communication and IT company and subsidiary of the General Electric Company, will be combining its Picture Perfect Version 4 Security Management System with the Sun JavaTM System Identity Management Suite, reported M2 Communications.

Government agencies, companies and contractors will be able to accommodate multiple logical and physical access points via a single server, operating system and set of procedures, to be managed by one administrator with this combined solution.

Picture Perfect Version 4 Security Management System is an enterprise access control and security management system. The Sun Java Identity Management Suite delivers a complete and integrated suite of tools to secure and manage user identities across a variety of computing infrastructures and application environments. The Sun suite provides all of the core functions and services required by enterprises to use, share and manage identity information. Merged together, the companies expect the combined solution to reduce manual processes and duplicate procedures and lower hardware, software and operating costs while ensuring physical and logical security.

This new solution is reportedly intended to enable deployment of a single smart-card security solution on a global scale, ensuring true convergence and the required compliance with regulations such as HSPD-12 and Sarbanes-Oxley. "
