Sun to Open Source its Digital Rights Management Technologies
Open Media Commons Initiative to Act as Platform for DRM Standards
Sun will be releasing its entire digital rights management (DRM) technologies, known as "Project DReaM," from its internal Sun Labs program under the OSI-approved Common Development and Distribution License (CDDL). Sun President and COO Jonathan Schwartz made the announcement during the Progress and Freedom Foundation Aspen Summit held August 21-28, in Colorado.

The Solaris 10 Operating System (Solaris OS) has won over Spanish film production company Dygra Films, which has replaced its Intel processor-based platform running Windows with Sun's latest UNIX release. According to Dygra Films, its 3D animation process, including production and procedures, has improved 50 percent.
