Sun is offering the electronic version of StarOfficeTM 7 Office Suite at 25 percent off its retail price along with free online training to ensure customers an easy transition and full maximization of this software's latest features. The free Web-based training course introduces customers to modules of the StarOffice 7 Application Suite.

Entitled "Transitioning to the StarOffice 7 Application Suite," this course describes how to use the features of these modules to create and enhance text documents, spreadsheets and presentations. StarOffice 7 software adds functionality to enable export to PDF and to the Macromedia Flash format. It also introduces a macro recorder, support for assistive technologies and complex text layouts, increased Microsoft Office interoperability and improved usability and stability.

This latest version is compatible with the following operating systems:

  • Microsoft Windows 98, ME, NT (Service Pack 6 or higher), 2000 (Service Pack 2 or higher) or XP
  • Linux Kernel version 2.2.13 or higher, glibc2 version 2.2.0 or higher
  • SolarisTM 8 Operating System (Solaris OS) (SPARCR Platform Edition) or higher with patches 108434-04, 108773-13, 108435-04 (only 64 bit), 109147-14 required for Solaris 8 OS
  • Solaris 8 OS for x86 Platforms or higher with patches 108436-01 and 108774-12 required for Solaris 8 OS
