Updated partner configurations for the Sun FireTM E4900 and Sun FireTM E6900 servers are available with new PCI+ I/O assemblies and improved 1.2 GHz UltraSPARCTM IV Uniboards. Each partner configuration is prepackaged with the minimum required CPUs, memory, I/O and other necessary features, offering partners and resellers simple, functional configurations for stocking and quick time-to-market.

Each partner configuration includes a system chassis with full power and cooling; one UltraSPARC IV CPU/memory board (1.2 GHz or 1.05 GHz) with four processors and 16 GB memory; one PCI+ I/O assembly with eight PCI adapter capability; and one dual GB ethernet/dual UltraSCSI PCI adapter. The Sun Fire E4900 and E6900 servers are offering the following new features:

• A New PCI+ I/O Assembly: This new assembly offers over a 40 percent increase in system bandwidth compared to the existing PCI I/O assembly.
• A New 1.2 GHz UltraSPARC IV Uniboard: This latest uniboard runs at rated speed on both the mid-range and high-end servers, such as the Sun FireTM 12K, Sun FireTM 15K, Sun FireTM E20K and Sun FireTM E25K servers. The previous 1.2 GHz Uniboard could only run at 1.05 GHz on the high-end servers.

In addition, each Sun Fire E4900 server configuration now includes a field rack kit within its assembly, which no longer requires a separate part number. [...read more...]
