Sun has released an initial set of five Sun JavaTM System Suites that come with the latest Sun JavaTM Studio Enterprise development platform and the Sun JavaTM Studio Creator tool. Designed to allow customers to quickly and easily deploy the Sun Java Enterprise System technologies, these suites are available for USD$50 per employee per year with an infinite right-to-use (RTU) license.
These first set of suites currently available all come with the above listed development tools and are categorized as follows:
- The Sun JavaTM Application Platform Suite includes the Sun JavaTM System Application Server Enterprise Edition, Sun JavaTM System Web Server, Sun JavaTM System Portal Server, Portal SRA and Portal Mobile Access.
- The Sun JavaTM System Availability Suite includes the SunTM Cluster high availability software, plus agents to make use of it.
- The Sun JavaTM Communications Suite is a groupware, collaboration and instant messaging server that includes the Sun JavaTM System Messaging Server, Sun JavaTM System Calendar Server, Sun JavaTM System Instant Messaging, which can synchronize with Microsoft's Outlook.
- The Sun JavaTM Identity Management Suite merges the most recent versions of the Sun JavaTM System Identity Manager, Sun JavaTM System Access Manager and the Sun JavaTM System Directory Server Enterprise Edition.
- The Sun JavaTM Web Infrastructure Suite is aimed at providing security and access control to existing Web application infrastructures, and includes the Sun JavaTM System Web Server, Sun Java System Directory Server Enterprise Edition, Sun Java System Access Manager, Sun JavaTM System Web Proxy Server and the Sun JavaTM System Application Server Standard Edition.
Simple subscription prices and predictable update schedules are offered with these suites for customers' convenience. Additionally, any of these Sun Java System Suites, which are based on the latest version of the Sun Java Enterprise System, Release 3, can be upgraded to the entire Sun Java Enterprise System stack.
The Sun Java Enterprise System is multiplatform supportive with the SolarisTM 10 Operating System (Solaris OS) for x86 Platforms and (SPARCR Platform Edition), HP-UX, Linux and Windows 2000 XP. It also features full support for the newest versions of the standard JavaTM and enterprise Java computing platforms.
