Sun is offering 50 percent off all SolarisTM 9 Operating System (Solaris OS) (x86 Platform Edition) licenses and S4 software support with a trade-in of a commercially paid Linux license. This is a "one license for one license" program that also offers customers purchasing its support feature to receive a free upgrade to the Solaris 10 OS.

With this promotion, customers can replace their Linux operating systems within their IT infrastructure for up to 75 percent off when compared to Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES's list price.

This discounted Solaris Enterprise Subscription Promotion is an All-In-One Pack that includes the Solaris 9 OS on x86 RTU, S4 support, patches and updates, with a free upgrade to the Solaris 10 OS. Customers can purchase a Solaris Enterprise Subscription at 50 percent off its regular price and are eligible to renew their subscription at this same price for up to two additional years beyond the initial first year term.

In addition, Sun's Solaris Enterprise Subscription x86 Promotion provides an aggressive pricing model for volume x86 server deployments. This promotion offers a flat price subscription for any mix of Sun and third party 1-4 CPU x86 servers with either standard or premium S4 support in packs of 100, 500 or 2,000.

Customers that have Solaris OS support contracts will qualify for the Solaris 10 OS upgrade via the Solaris 10 OS media kit when it becomes available. The Solaris OS support can be purchased separately for individual licenses and is included in the Solaris Enterprise Subscription x86 Promotion.

The reduce price on the Solaris 9 OS RTU promotion will last through June 30, 2005, while the discounted Solaris Enterprise Subscription promotion ends December 31, 2004. "
