Configuring for Enterprise Class Storage November 3, 1998,
Volume 8, Issue 1
Since the introduction of the Sun StorEdge A5000 family in November
1997, this advanced Fibre Channel product line has sold more than 1,600
Terabytes of storage, become the mainstay of Sun's Network Storage
offering, and been the principle contributor to Sun's position as the
number one seller of UNIX-attached storage. Given this success and the
continued market move towards Fibre Channel-based arrays, Sun will be
using this family as the baseline for the majority of future business
in Enterprise Class storage.
In order to drive further growth in the Fibre Channel business Sun is
taking a number of key initiatives this quarter to maintain leadership
in this market sector and provide maximum customer satisfaction with
both their existing and new A5000 arrays.
These initiatives include:
The introduction of the next generation of systems monitoring and
diagnostic tools to ensure maximum reliability and availability
required by Enterprise class customers and channel associates
Guidelines for positioning the family members to ensure customer
satisfaction and sustained revenue growth
Guidelines for configuring multiple A5000 arrays for
maximum availability, serviceability, and performance
A preview of other services and support (e-mail home through the
