Transition of Ultra 30 Workstations
Replaced by Ultra 10 and Ultra 60 Workstations

All Ultra 30 workstations will be replaced by the superior price/performance Ultra 10 and Ultra 60 workstations. The Ultra 30 workstations and upgrade products will transition according to the following schedule:

  • Last Order Date: February 12, 1999
  • Last Ship Date: May 14, 1999

Lower-end Ultra 30 configurations have been assigned to the high-end Ultra 10 configurations, and the most powerful Ultra 30 configurations have been pegged to the Ultra 60. All new configurations are designed to closely match the price points of the former Ultra 30 configurations.

The short lifecycle of the Ultra 30 workstation is not due to any shortcomings in its design, but rather the unexpected price/performance of the Ultra 10 workstation. Additionally, the pricing of the Ultra 60 workstation pricing is almost at the level of the Ultra 30 workstation, making the purchase decision confusing to the customer. "
