Sun and the Department of Energy Develop High-performance Computer Cluster
INEEL will Rank as One of the World's Top 150 Supercomputing Sites

Sun and the Department of Energy have developed a high-performance computer cluster at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL) in Idaho Falls, Idaho. A number of components are included in the solution, including over 230 Sun Fire V20z servers powered by AMD Opteron processors.

The successful HP Away migration program offered by Sun will now include a migration path towards Sun AMD Opteron processor-based workstations and servers. This will allow customers to take advantage of Sun's 64-bit enterprise computing with the AMD Opteron processor, the Solaris Operating System (Solaris OS), Sun Java Enterprise Software and more.
