SolarisTM 10 Operating System (Solaris OS) is one of the latest targeted platforms that Tarantella will now support with its upcoming fourth quarter release of Secure Global Desktop Enterprise Edition 4 (EE 4) software.

Tarantella's expanded server platform support will not only encompass Solaris 10 OS, but also SuSE Enterprise 9, Red Hat, Advanced Server 3 and Fedora Core 2. This software allows secure remote access to applications in the Linux environment from an assortment of devices.

Features include:

  • Enhanced security and encryption including support for SHA-1 and other bulk transfer encryption algorithms

  • Web Services APIs that allow for integration of EE 4 with portals and existing Web applications

  • Revised and improved client interface allows for more options such as the ability to send the new "webtop" as light-weight HTML, group applications into hierarchical lists, end suspended sessions directly from a browser and modify or completely replace the client user interface

  • Launch EE 4 applications via standard URLs allowing for easy bookmarking of an application in your browser or sending a link to a co-worker in an email message

  • New configuration wizard assists with initial setup

  • Flexible client drive mapping system now allows Linux, Solaris OS and Macintosh users to save data from their remote access session to their local disk drive

"In addition to support for new distributions from major Linux vendors, EE 4 delivers the security, flexibility and unparalleled customer value that our Linux customers depend upon every day," said Steve Bannerman, chief marketing officer, Tarantella Inc. "Secure Global Desktop is the platform of choice for secure remote access to applications in the Linux environment."
