ThingsNet Middleware a Fully Integrated, Reliable and Manageable RFID Solution

A provider of EPC/RFID middleware, epcSolutions, is releasing its ThingsNet middleware, which is designed to be a fully integrated, reliable and manageable RFID solution that meets or exceeds the latest mandates of Wal-Mart, Tesco, Albertson's and DoD. The solution can be downloaded for free at the company's Web site.

The new release includes, along with several other benefits, increased scalability, added ease of use features and the built-in ability to connect to any application. Companies can use a completely integrated EPC/RFID solution to track assets and inventory with RFID tags, as well as eliminate manual count, data entry and the line-of-sight requirements associated with bar code scanning.

The ThingsNet middleware solution offers integration capable of increasing the benefits of RFID across the enterprise. It also offers better asset management, more accurate and efficient supply chain execution and speedy payment transactions.

Charles Williams, CTO of epcSolutions, said, "ThingsNet runs on all existing JVM platforms, from Microsoft Windows to SolarisTM x86 or Linux-based Operating Systems through high-end SMP environments leveraging UltraSPARCR processors and Solaris OS."

"We're simplifying the process of compliance, and we're making our customers' networks very easy to visualize, construct and manage," said Williams. "We have added several features to improve visualization and ease of use. We've also enhanced scalability with the ability to quickly and easily add both edge servers and non-edge servers to the network infrastructure. Communicating through JMS queues and topics, these additional non-edge integration points make it easier to scale the network."

"One thousand downloads since March is phenomenal. We'll continue to improve on the EPC standards-based RFID middleware technology that comprises our ThingsNet solution," said Kevin Kail, CEO of epcSolutions, Inc. "A direct result of all of the activity at our Web site has been the invaluable feedback from our participants. By coupling that input with what we are learning hands-on with our own customers in on-going pilots and implementations, we are enabling, and really enhancing, the value chain that our customers are striving for. Our customers don't just want to comply; they want their RFID investments to translate into real value: real improvements, real savings, real dollars. We want to lead the way, and the best way to do that is to continue to aggressively incorporate our learnings, and jump ahead of the pack."
