VERITAS i3 APM Software Integrated with Sun Java Enterprise System
Gives Users the Ability to Diagnose Problems Across all Application Tiers

In a move that extends its already long-standing relationship with Sun, VERITAS Software Corporation announced that its VERITAS i3 application performance management (APM) software now supports the Sun JavaTM Enterprise System.

The integration of VERITAS' APM software with both the Sun JavaTM System Application Server and Sun JavaTM System Portal Server will enable deeper visibility into the performance of JavaTM 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EETM) applications. Faster application response times and more predictable application service levels are also expected to result from this integration, which has appeal for organizations working to adopt a utility computing model.

"Since its inception, the Java Enterprise System's revolutionary approach to infrastructure software has helped eradicate complexity from enterprise software procurement and management," said John Loiacono, executive vice president, software, Sun Microsystems. "Integrating VERITAS i3 APM software with the Java Enterprise System offers enterprises the benefits of a high-performance software system while also helping customers rapidly detect and correct any potential performance problems."

Because meeting service level requirements on a shared, automated infrastructure is a core component of VERITAS' utility computing strategy, which is especially important with J2EE platform Web-based applications deployed to support business-critical activities, the solution's unique ability to find and track performance problems across all application tiers makes it a valuable management tool.

"A growing number of companies are literally running their businesses on J2EE environments, such as those built on the Java System Application Server and Java System Portal Server. For these companies, maintaining high levels of application performance -- and resolving any problems quickly, before they affect end user performance -- are a necessity," said Kris Hagerman, executive vice president, strategic operations, VERITAS Software. "We're pleased to be working closely with Sun to bring our industry-leading VERITAS i3 application performance management solutions to Sun's Java Enterprise System customers." [...read more...]
