Sun, DataDirect Technologies Agree on Marketing Connectivity Solution
DataDirect Connect Enhances Connectivity in Development, Deployment

DataDirect Connect, an advanced suite of Java Database ConnectivityTM (JDBCTM) API drivers -- the most widely deployed suite of third-party JDBC drivers on the market -- will now enhance the functionality and performance of the Sun JavaTM Studio Creator and the Sun JavaTM System Application Server solutions from Sun.

The JavaTM 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EETM)-certified drivers from DataDirect Technologies are generally regarded as among the most advanced drivers capable of supporting the JDBC API.

With the addition of these solutions from DataDirect Technologies, developers using Java Studio Creator will have all of the JDBC drivers they need to quickly develop and deploy data-driven JavaTM technology applications. The inclusion of this suite of JDBC drivers in Java Studio Creator will simplify and accelerate application development for the Java technology platform.

"As a long-standing technology partner of DataDirect Technologies, we have watched the company not only base its products on industry standards, but help define the standards on which its data connectivity components are built," said Jeff Jackson, vice president of engineering for the Java System Application Server at Sun Microsystems. "The quality and performance of DataDirect Technologies' suite of JDBC drivers are a critical addition to the Sun Java System Application Server family."

"Since the advent of JDBC, DataDirect Technologies has worked alongside Sun to define the JDBC specification as a member of the JDBC Expert Group," said John Goodson, vice president of product operations for DataDirect Technologies. "We're very excited to bring our relationship with Sun to this new level and to provide Sun developers and users with the fastest, most feature rich JDBC connectivity available anywhere."

"Over the last several years, JDBC development has focused on improving the deployment and run time experience for users," added Goodson. "In our latest release, DataDirect Connect for JDBC 3.4, we have included significant focus on simplifying the development experience for Java developers. The inclusion of our drivers in Java Studio Creator as well as the Java System Application Server gives Sun users the best of both worlds, ease of development and unparalleled run-time performance and functionality."

DataDirect Connect for JDBC is the only Type 4 suite of drivers that provides 100 percent database-independent, standards-driven data connectivity. Passing Sun's J2EE platform compatibility test suite when integrated with the J2EE 1.4 SDK, DataDirect Technologies' JDBC components ensure high-quality technology and support for the latest standards and database features.
