Sun's Advanced Multimedia Technology Creates Unique Learning Environment
Experimedia Aids Users of State Library of Victoria

Australian school children, with the help of Sun technology, have access to a new multimedia style of learning environment called Experimedia. Sun's advanced multimedia technology challenges the way that these school children and other visitors access and interact with the State Library of Victoria's collection.

Experimedia enables students to use JavaTM smart card technology to create their own digital media presentation based on the Library's online catalogue that is powered by Linux and SolarisTM Operating System (Solaris OS) servers and Sun RayTM thin clients.

"Experimedia is an exciting new concept in content and information delivery. It aims to challenge the traditional view of what a library is, while offering a glimpse into how the library of the future may be," said Anne-Marie Schwirtlich, CEO and State Librarian.
