Attachmate myEXTRA! Smart Connectors, from the Attachmate Corporation,
are now verified on JavaTM 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EETM
platform) 1.4 to support J2EE platform 1.4 Compatible Application
Servers. Attachmate recently debuted the solution at the J2EE platform
1.4 kickoff event aimed at showcasing the J2EE platform 1.4 ecosystem.
Attachmate demonstrated how the myEXTRA! Smart Connectors are capable
of functioning as industry-standard interfaces capturing legacy data
and transactions, with many uses in modern application development via
the J2EE Connector Architecture. The Smart Connectors are designed to
deliver comprehensive connectivity to legacy data and business logic.
Smart connectors allow clients to access any legacy resource by
providing an array of standard interfaces to legacy data sources and
applications. This ensures that the solutions currently being developed
will interoperate with those of tomorrow.
"Attachmate's comprehensive set of J2EE-compatible connectors with
easy-to-use tools take the complexity of our integrating legacy assets
from back-end resources," said Carla Dimond, senior group manager,
Market Development for Sun. "Industry-wide adoption of a mature J2EE
Connector Architecture specification improves the economics of business
integration in favor of customers, by providing increased choice,
flexibility and reuse."
"Attachmate Smart Connectors help enterprises implement a
service-oriented architecture (SOA) to granularly access legacy data
and business logic and encapsulate it as callable services," stated
Markus Nitschke, Attachmate vice president, Corporate Marketing. "This
approach makes legacy data and applications reusable and extensible for
a broader audience within new application development, and end users
benefit from Smart Connector J2EE compatibility."
Attachmate is the industry's only all-mainframe connectivity expert.
