Pramati Technologies' JavaTM 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EETM platform) -compatible application server should become certified for the J2EE platform 1.4 in the third quarter of this year. The Pramati Server is one of the company's implementations designed to offer the market benefits of the robust and feature-rich J2EE platform standard.

A complete set of standards and protocols used to build Web Services applications -- such as WS-I Basic Profile and JavaTM API for XML-based RPC (JAX-RPC) 1.0 -- are included in the J2EE platform 1.4. The company was an active participant in the Java Community ProcessSM Program Expert Group that worked on the J2EE platform 1.4 specification.

Pramati's solution is designed to offer features and performance on par with the more well-known application server brands while being priced considerably lower than the competition. The company expects the combination of a competitive price and highly usable product to result in a compelling alternative for midmarket customers, departments of large corporations and ISVs.

Pramati CTO Vijay Pullur said, "This segment is highly sensitive to price but does not want to compromise on features, performance or support. Pramati is filling this gap in the market with a high quality product and services."

Pramati Technologies offers customers all over the globe a complete suite of products for design, development, deployment and management of J2EE applications. The Pramati Server is currently in production service for mission critical applications at leading banks, telecom carriers, ecommerce companies and other global enterprises.

"We are looking forward to a J2EE 1.4 compatible Pramati Server," said Anand Iyer, principal architect of XLNT, a Pramati ISV partner. "Our product road map is aligned with Pramati and we plan to use the new features to make Web Services functionality a standard in our solution."
