Taito Offering Java Technology Game Content for Orange Group

The mobile communications company, the Orange Group, now offers JavaTM technology-based mobile phone content from Japan's major toy maker, Taito. New games include Space Invader, Qix, Raimais, Puzzle Bobble, Dariusgate and Arkanoid. They also have 3-D games and karaoke. The content supports Nokia 3300, 6800 and 7250i models.

The Orange group has operations in 19 countries across Europe and other locations. They currently have a total of 49 million subscribers worldwide. At the end of December 2003, Orange was the largest mobile operator in both the UK with over 13.6 million active customers, and France with over 20 million registered customers.

The Orange Group Developers Program develops and tests mobile voice and data applications within Orange and helps companies get their products, services and applications to market. They support development on all operating systems and work with all the major device manufacturers.

The Orange Group Developers Program works with Sun to assist and encourage development on the Java platform for mobile. The JavaTM 2 Platform provides robust end-to-end solutions for networked applications as well as a trusted standard for embedded applications.

Orange also uses JiniTM technology to offer more services to its UK customers (this was reported on in article [11136]).

Orange will be participating in the 2004 JavaOneSM Conference, displaying a new developer portal and Java technology-based applications.
