Ease is key in the latest release of the SolarisTM 9 Operating System (Solaris OS) for SPARCR and x86 platforms with easy installation, administration and application deployment. Offering improvements in code quality and overall performance, Solaris 9 4/04 OS comes with advanced patch and update capabilities along with comprehensive adoption tools and services.

The integration of the Sun JavaTM Enterprise System delivers an enterprise network services software system that is designed, developed and tested to provide a consistent experience for IT and business users. Its integrated, open, standards-based software system has a core set of enterprise network services, including network identity, portal, communications and collaboration, application and Web, availability and security services.

This release also comes with the Solaris Application Guarantee program ensuring existing applications written to the SolarisTM Application Binary Interface (ABI) will run without modification on the Solaris 9 OS.

Developers who have written applications for other versions of Solaris OS may download Sun's free Guarantee Test Suite. If an application passes, Sun guarantees it will run on the Solaris 9 OS software. If it fails, Sun will work with the developer to remedy the problem.
