Third Quarter Results will Include One-time Charges; Jonathan Schwartz Receives Promotion to President and COO
Sun is undergoing restructuring that will result in a workforce
reduction of approximately 3,300 people. The company released
preliminary third quarter revenues of approximately $2.65 billion.
Sun's Jonathan Schwartz has also received a promotion to the position

First Specs in W3C's Speech Interface Framework Released
Now Telephones can Interact with Web-based Services
The first two specifications in the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)'s
Speech Interface Framework have been approved. VoiceXML 2.0 and Speech
Recognition Grammar Specification (SRGS) 1.0 will allow telephone
interaction with Web Services via key pads, spoken commands, listening
to pre-recorded speech, synthetic speech and music.
