Sun Java System Application Server Selected by U.S. Navy
Solution to be Used for Top Command and Control Program

Over the next four years, over 200 naval vessels will be equipped with the server.
 

The U.S. Navy's Program Executive Office for Command, Control, Computer, Communications, Intelligence and Space (PEO C4I and Space) is selecting the Sun JavaTM System Application Server Standard Edition 7. The solution will run all Global Command and Control -- Maritime (GCCS-M) deployments starting in 2005.

Over the next four years, over 200 naval vessels will be equipped with the server. The solution will run on the SolarisTM 9 Operating System (Solaris OS) and will be deployed on UltraSPARCR technology. The solution was chosen because of its strong security and observance of JavaTM 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EETM) specifications.
