Sun's New Program for NEPs Offers Custom Services

Sun is launching the Network Equipment Provider (NEP) Lifecycle Services ProgramSM. The goal is to focus NEPs on product development so highly customized solutions can be offered to the end user instead of centering on day-to-day technology.

A $29 billion market, NEPs are the prime providers of network equipment for wireless carriers.NEPs will be able to lessen their costs for product development, integration and supply chain monies through the NEP Lifecycle Services Program, which offers:

Development Services

To augment the NEP's product development team with the ability to co-develop, engineer and design products; outfit and manage labs; and provide on-site engineering expertise.

Industry Certification Services

To assist NEPs in complying with regulatory and certification requirements such as NEBS and ETSI.

  • SunSM Customer Ready Systems (CRS)- Offering custom integration of Sun and third-party products so customers receive pre-tested, certified products directly. This reduces customer inventory cycle times, eliminates unnecessary shipping costs and 80 percent fewer early-life system issues during deployment.

Go-to-Market Services

Customized marketing packages are available with media activities, trade show coordination, channel management, account planning and joint sales activities.

Support Services

End-to-end Product Lifecycle Management including warranty, field services, customer support, parts inventory and traceability, repair, re-manufacturing and replacement services.

These service offerings can be selected individually for a customized package so every NEP's distinct requirements are met. Currently, Sun's network computing platform supports solutions from the top ten NEPs.
