Mobile Java Web Services Technology to Improve Enterprise Productivity
Sun and RIM Offering Secure Delivery of Enterprise Data

Mobile JavaTM Web Services technology will be extended to millions of BlackBerry customers in the near future. This current project between Sun and Research In Motion (RIM) is expected to enable the end-to-end secure delivery of enterprise data via BlackBerry, a leading wireless connectivity solution.

"There is an immediate need for today's companies to connect corporate networks to mobile devices to increase productivity, value-chain efficiency, sales and, most importantly, help to establish and strengthen personalized customer relationships," said Alan Brenner, vice president, Consumer and Mobile Systems Group, Sun. "Our alliance with a leading mobile enterprise solution provider like RIM demonstrates the potential of Java technology to help enterprises massively improve productivity and customer loyalty with BlackBerry."

Based on the Sun JavaTM Enterprise System, Java technology for mobile devices and Web Services technologies, this project's goal is to expand mobile data services in networked applications and extend their reach into enterprise markets.

"We are leveraging the power of Java Web Services and BlackBerry to enable secure electronic business using wireless," said David Yach, senior vice president of Software at Research In Motion.

The joint collaboration between Sun and RIM has already produced a successful solution for eAgency, a sales force automation and customer relationship management provider. With the SolarisTM Operating System (Solaris OS) and Sun technology, eAgency along with Blackberry was able to extend its Web-based information exchange platform to wireless mobile users.
