Bringing the power of low-cost computing to data warehousing is now available through the collaborative efforts of Sun and Metapa Inc. Integrating Metapa's Cluster DataBase (CDB) on the SolarisTM Operating System (Solaris OS) (x86 Platform Edition) and three Sun FireTM servers allows for an economical solution to store and perform detailed analysis of critical event data.

"By combining Metapa's CDB with Sun's Solaris OS x86 platform and x86 line of Intel Xeon and AMD Opteron-based servers, Sun is able to provide one of the industry's first viable low-cost strategy for supporting large-scale business intelligence applications," commented Cyrus Golkar, CXO, Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing, Sun.

"Sun is pioneering new and innovative ways for our customers to utilize low-cost computing systems to help reduce total cost of ownership for enterprise IT initiatives," Golkar noted.

This powerful integrated system can handle complex analytical queries at tens to hundreds of terabytes and is ideal for the telecommunications, financial services, Internet services and retail markets.

"Metapa is committed to providing our customers with data warehousing solutions that can take full advantage of the significant price/performance advantages of today's low-cost computing systems," said Dave Powell, president and CEO of Metapa.
