Security and Site Support Enhancements Augment Sun Managed Services
Customers Gain Freedom to Redeploy Data Center Staff to Other Functions

The Sun Managed Services portfolio has been enhanced and expanded to include Sun Managed Security Services, along with enhancements to Site Support. Sun's customized IT Infrastructure Management solution employs a unique, flexible sourcing approach and industry best practices that cover the entire service delivery life cycle. Sun has joined forces with VeriSign Inc. to deliver Sun Managed Security Services to the market.

Customers will receive the information and tools needed to proactively conduct security risk management across their entire enterprise. These services are rendered and delivered across a highly secure network connection from a Secure Operations Center (SOC) managed by VeriSign, a SunToneSM certified delivery partner. The Sun Managed Services portfolio is a suite of services with fixed part numbers and prices that are available as part of a Managed Services engagement as well as standalone.

The Sun Site Support Program is now "Channel Enabled" in the U.S. market with plans to enable the channel in EMEA and APAC.In addition to being channel friendly, Sun Site Support now also offers heterogeneous pricing, environmental assessment services, availability management services, Net Connect 3.0, RAS system analysis and true site-based entitlement.

Some of the Sun Managed Security Services capabilities include:

  • Intrusion Detection Monitoring Service; Host based and/or Network based

  • Intrusion Detection Management and Monitoring Service; Host based and/or Network based

  • Firewall Monitoring Services: Small Enterprise, Standard Enterprise, Standard HA Enterprise

  • Firewall Management and Monitoring Services: Small Enterprise, Standard Enterprise, Standard HA Enterprise

  • VPN Monitoring Service

  • VPN Management and Monitoring Service

Sun Managed Services offers the customer flexibility and control over their people and assets by offering the opportunity to have Sun manage a single IT function or assume full data center management. Operational management, security, availability, business continuity, capacity management, asset management and the development of a measurable service level agreement are just a few of the challenges that a Sun Managed Services solution will address.

Among the benefits customers will derive from Sun Managed Services are greater staffing and management flexibility, increased systems reliability and reduced human resource overhead costs.
