VERITAS leads Gartner's Backup and Restore Software Magic Quadrant for the third year in a row [11259].

VERITAS maintained leadership in the Gartner Magic Quadrant reports for the enterprise backup and SAN management software markets:

"VERITAS focuses exclusively on software, leaving to our customers the choice of hardware and storage platforms. This approach continues to be successful, as our customers want the flexibility to adapt to changing conditions and the simplification that only software can provide in a heterogeneous world," said Mark Bregman, executive vice president of product operations, VERITAS Software [9981].

VERITAS participated in the SunNetworkSM 2003 Conference as a Platinum sponsor, where they showcased products such as VERITAS NetBackup, VERITAS Indepth for JavaTM 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EETM), VERITAS Database Edition for Oracle and more [10973].

Sun and VERITAS have a long-standing and successful relationship:

"Sun brings value to the relationship by putting the VERITAS NetBackup solution into the Sun solution stack and integrating it at the highest levels, from the platform to the OS to the network to the storage array and tape libraries. We provide an integratable stack, making sure the NetBackup products are really integrated to show the true end-to-end architecture of Sun," Joseph Catalanotti of the Sun Storage Group said in article [9686]. During 2003 VERITAS released an enhanced version of VERITAS Bare Metal Restore software. The software is designed to automate the rapid recovery of heterogeneous server environments, making it unnecessary to manually reinstall operating systems or configure hardware; see [9979] and [9980].

The software is an out-of-the-box solution that allows administrators to centralize control of their disaster recovery environment on all major platforms, including AIX, HP-UX, Linux, the SolarisTM Operating System (Solaris OS) and Windows [10257].
