Vignette will integrate the Sun JavaTM System Directory Server with
the Vignette V7 content management suites and support components of the
Sun JavaTM Enterprise System such as the Sun JavaTM System
Application Server. Vignette will also work with Sun to develop and
support a portlet library connecting Vignette V7 content management
suites to the Sun JavaTM System Portal Server.
There are over 1.5 billion licenses of the Sun Java System Directory
Server, making it a widely deployed LDAP-based directory server. It
provides a central repository for storing and managing identity
profiles, access privileges, application and network resource
information. It gives customers improved access to critical information
and applications across an extended enterprise.
Vignette will develop proof of concepts in Sun's iForceSM Solution
Centers and use Sun's Executive Briefing Centers. The initial areas
that they will target are employee portals and the public sector.
Sun and Vignette have intensified their focus on building solution
architectures that enable the rapid deployment of Web Services. Sun and
Vignette are committed to JavaTM 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition
(J2EETM) based standards to help ensure that customers can leverage
their existing and future investments in JavaTM technology.
