Sun plans to supply substantial computing resources throughout Asia to
Algo Lab. The lab, which belongs to the enterprise risk company
Algorithmics Inc., is part of Sun's continued commitment to the global
financial services industry.
Algo Lab is designed to be unique, in-house solution center that pushes
for best practice approaches to the implementation of Algorithmics'
enterprise-wide management software and solutions. The lab is able to
provide an off-line and predictable environment for product testing,
knowledge transfer and services support.
"Within Algo Lab, all conditions of a representative client production
environment -- data, analytics and reporting -- are replicated by the Algo
Lab team to provide real-life simulation of a production environment,"
said Michael Zerbs, Chief Operating Officer at Algorithmics. "Algo Lab
provides rigorous testing for client systems and Algo Suite configurations
and it is a great benefit to have Sun servers on site due to their
significant computing power and industry market share."
"We value our relationship with Algorithmics very highly and see them
in a market leadership position in many aspects of risk management,"
said Nigel Woodward, global manager, Capital Markets and Securities at
Sun. "Our relationship focuses on ensuring that Algoritrhmics' risk
capability is supported across our technology architecture, including
high-end UNIXR SolarisTM Operating System (Solaris OS), Linux and
grid architectures. We see the collaborative work around AlgoLabs as an
ideal way to proof point solutions for our mutual clients."
