The JAIN APIs bring service portability, convergence and secure network access to telephony and data networks.

The JAIN Community consists of over 80 member companies such as Alcatel, Avaya, Cisco, Cingular Wireless, Ericsson, Nokia, Vodofone and others, specifying over 25 new APIs that target converged Internet Protocol (IP) and Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) networks.

The goal of JAIN technology is to change the telecommunications market from large proprietary closed systems to an open architecture of rapidly deployable services. The main objectives of the JAIN program are service portability, network convergence and service provider access.
