Sun chose SAPPHIRE 2003 Orlando, SAP's international customer conference, as the venue to announce its own Customer Excellence Program for Customers Running SAP Solutions on Sun. Stuart Wells, Sun VP for Market Development, also announced OfficeMax as the newest member of the program.

The goals of Sun's Customer Excellence Program are threefold:

• To leverage the customer knowledge base running SAP solutions on Sun

• To enable SAP customers utilizing Sun infrastructure to learn from the know-how and thought leadership of the greater Sun and SAP customer community

• To deliver recognition for customers' creativity, guts and innovation

Said Wells, "Customers like OfficeMax have taken their solutions where few companies have gone before, entering unchartered territory in the number of users, database size, growth, globalization, 7x24 operations or integration with external sources."

Benefits available to members of the customer excellence program include the advantage of valuable services and joint marketing activities from Sun. Members can also participate in Sun-sponsored customer reference activities such as speaking engagements, success stories, site visits, conference calls and usage of the customer's logo and testimonials.

Members accumulate and redeem credits for rewards provided by Sun. For example, customers can leverage industry recognized services and support to help increase SAP solution and system performance, while promoting their own products and services to press and analysts worldwide. Services offered at the premier level (there is also a base-level membership) through the iForceSM Competency Centers for SAP and by SunSM Services experts include RAS Profile, performance and availability assessment, capacity planning exercise, and architecture review.

OfficeMax, which runs its business almost entirely on Sun servers, reciprocated by awarding Sun the Information Systems Hardware Strategic Partner award, the highest accolade given to OfficeMax vendors. The award recognizes a company's significant contribution and outstanding effort towards mutually beneficial goals.
