SunTM ONE Application Server 7 software continues to create new business opportunities for ISVs by providing the basis for end-to-end JavaTM Web Services and application development. Many of the industry's top names are using the solution to enable global enterprises and enforce the high availability of mission-critical Java technology applications. (This product was formerly known as iPlanetTM Application Server.)

"Combining Software AG's expertise in XML with Sun's leadership in Java Web Services through their Sun ONE Application Server 7, our enterprise customers have a potent and affordable deployment solution that offers excellent reliability, great performance, and compelling cost advantages," said Michael McDowell, vice president of business development for Software AG Americas.

The Sun ONE Application Server 7 aims to provide a JavaTM 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EETM) 1.3 compatible platform for the development and delivery of Java Web Services. The solution is designed to integrate a robust application development environment with the SunTM ONE Studio 4 software (formerly known as ForteTM for Java). The solution is offered in Platform, Standard and Enterprise editions for better functionality across an array of usage scenarios.

"By supporting J2EE 1.3 platform, Macromedia enables ColdFusion MX developers to combine application development productivity with the power of the Java platform," said Jeff Whatcott, senior director, product marketing, Macromedia. "The combination of ColdFusion MX and Sun ONE Application Server 7 provides a standards-based foundation that delivers on the promise of minimizing development time and costs while allowing us to free users from platform-specific constraints."

The solution is also engineered to provide ISVs with the interoperability they need, offering an open and integratable architecture to simplify the porting of applications. The solution aims to support both industry standard and pricing flexibility. In terms of performance, the Sun ONE Application Server 7 is intended to offer one of the fastest and most secure HTTP servers on the market along with a high-performing JavaTM Message Service (JMS) API implementation.

"With the Sun ONE Application Server 7, Sun is dramatically changing the economics of enterprise software deployment by providing a robust Java Web Services platform that lowers acquisition and operating costs for our ISVs and customers," said Shahram Moradpour, senior director of market development, Sun. "The broad industry adoption of the Sun ONE Application Server 7 is supported by the five-fold increase in the number of ISVs that have ported their applications in just the last six months."
