The provider of software solutions for analysis of numerical and text data, Insightful Corporation, is releasing Insightful Miner 3. The product upgrade supports Windows and SolarisTM Operating System (Solaris OS) servers. It also adds several new features that facilitate how data analysts build and deploy predictive models that increase product performance and efficiency of critical business processes.

The solution is designed to have easy-to-use visual workmaps and new support for server-side analysis and deployment. It also tries to provide a workbench that has high scalability and extensible data analysis for addressing the many types of predictive modeling problems found in the finance, biopharmaceutical and government organizations.

"All pharmaceutical companies accumulate large volumes of data during clinical trials at great expense," said Dr. Drew Griffin Levy, director, exploratory data analysis at Pfizer. "The challenge is to leverage this investment with secondary analysis of aggregated data to augment the knowledge we have from the individual primary study analyses. Insightful Miner fits our knowledge discovery needs very well. It easily handles very large data sets and its intuitive, self-documenting interface makes the entire analysis process more efficient. Approaching analysis from multiple perspectives using a suite of statistical tools makes our inferences more reliable."

Insightful Miner uses S-PLUS, the company's data analysis programming language, to link to and scale custom analytical methods. The solution enables analytic experts to share their analysis applications with other decision makers in the business. Insightful Miner 3 will be available at the end of the second quarter of this year.
