VERITAS Software Corporation has been placed in the "leaders" quadrant
in the most recent Gartner Magic Quadrant reports of the enterprise
backup and SAN management software markets.
The Gartner Magic Quadrants evaluate vendors in specific markets by
assessing each company's technology, service, support, features,
functionality and viability. Companies are positioned in the quadrant
based on their vision and ability to execute that vision. Gartner
classifies companies as "leaders" if they are performing well, have a
clear vision of market direction, and are actively building
competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market.
This is the third year in a row that VERITAS has been placed in the
leader quadrant in SAN Management. Products from VERITAS that have led
to the high ranking include VERITAS NetBackup software. Recent
enhancements to VERITAS NetBackup software make backup management more
streamlined and increase the speed of backup and recovery at the
mailbox level of Microsoft Exchange environments.
VERITAS Global Data Manager has also been updated. It provides
administrators with a dashboard view of global data protection
environments, including VERITAS NetBackup and VERITAS Backup Exec
software for small to medium businesses.
The VERITAS SANPoint Control and VERITAS Storage Reporter products help
companies manage multi-vendor, networked storage environments with
in-depth reporting, better efficiency and improved storage utilization.
VERITAS has helped lead the adoption of SAN management standards
through its participation in the Storage Networking Industry
Association (SNIA).
"VERITAS focuses exclusively on software, leaving to our customers the
choice of hardware and storage platforms. This approach continues to be
successful, as our customers want the flexibility to adapt to changing
conditions and the simplification that only software can provide in a
heterogeneous world," said Mark Bregman, executive vice president of
product operations, VERITAS Software.
VERITAS Software provides data protection, storage
management, high availability and disaster recovery software to 86
percent of the Fortune 500.
