VERITAS Software Corporation has relased a new, enhanced version of
VERITAS Bare Metal Restore, software designed to automate the rapid
recovery of heterogeneous server environments. Bare Metal Restore
software cuts recovery time by automating system and software
configuration processes. The new version 4.6 includes "dissimilar
system restore," which can restore a crashed Windows system to hardware
completely different from that on which it was originally installed.
VERITAS Bare Metal Restore automates and streamlines the server
recovery process, making it unnecessary to manually reinstall operating
systems or configure hardware. Complete restoration of a server can be
done with a single command in a fraction of the time without
extensive training or tedious administration. Server restores will
be faster, easier and more successful, getting your business back
online as soon as possible.
For the third year in a row, VERITAS Software Corp. has been placed in
the "leaders" quadrant in the most recent Gartner Magic Quadrant
reports of the enterprise backup and SAN management software markets.
VERITAS products that have led to the high ranking include VERITAS
NetBackup software, VERITAS Global Data Manager and VERITAS SANPoint
Control.
Streamline and centralize the archiving of distaster recovery tapes
with VERITAS NetBackup Vault. VERITAS NetBackup Vault is an integrated
option for VERITAS NetBackup DataCenter. Some of the key features of
VERITAS NetBackup Vault are its ability to perform inline tape
duplication during the backup. Initial backups can then be stored, or
staged, on a disk storage device and automatically duplicated to
tape storage devices following the backup.
Given the increasing size and widespread adoption of the Oracle
enterprise database, manual backup and recovery procedures are becoming
less and less suitable as a database management tool. VERITAS Software
has worked closely with Oracle Corporation to develop a highly scalable
and reliable array of online backup and recovery solutions for Oracle
databases.
