Project Orion to Reduce Complexity
Aligning Software Development, Delivery Strategy and Business Model
Project Orion will simplify how customers acquire Sun's enterprise
infrastructure software and deploy and operate it. Software offerings
will have quarterly releases of an integrated software system
distributed on the Solaris Operating Environment (Solaris OE),
Solaris OE for x86 and Linux.

colleague, Jonathan Schwartz, provided a look at a distinctly new way

Handling up to 15 Million Trades in a Day
When Archipelago needed an exchange trading system that would be
capable of handling a 300 percent increase in trading volume, they came
to Sun. The new trading platform runs on Sun Fire V880 servers, Sun
Fire V480 servers and Sun Fire 4800 servers and can handle up to 15 million orders in a day.

Achieves 98 Percent Performance Improvement on Quiz Studio Assessment Solution
VIP Tone Inc. has demonstrated significant performance gains in a
test of its Quiz Studio educational software on Sun ONE Application
Server 7 (formerly iPlanet Application Server). The test,
designed to demonstrate the performance benefits of migrating
mission-critical applications to the Sun Open Net Environment (Sun ONE), yielded a 98 percent improvement over a previously used application server.

Two different USENIX events will be taking place in late March. The 4th
USENIX Symposium on Internet Technologies and Systems (USITS '03), will
focus on security, new systems and dynamic content. The 2nd USENIX
Conference on File and Storage Technologies (FAST '03), will bring
together top specialists to form a panel on file systems and storage.
