Sun Fire V1280 System Sets Benchmark World Record System Delivers Highest Dual-Node SPECjAppServer2001 Performance
A 12-CPU 900 MHz UltraSPARCR III Cu Sun FireTM V1280 system
(application server hardware) and an 8-CPU 900 MHz UltraSPARC III Cu Sun
FireTM V880 system (database server hardware) recorded 521.86 BOPS at
US$1,133.64/BOPS, running the Oracle9i Application Server and Oracle9i
Database on the SPECjAppServer2001 benchmark. Running the SolarisTM
Operating Environment (Solaris OE), the Sun FireTM V1280 server is the
first and only 12-way system able to run this benchmark in the dual-node
category, which confirms the product's scalability in application serving
workloads.
Sun systems now hold the performance records for both the Multiple-Node
and Dual-Node categories of the SPECjAppServer2001 benchmark,
demonstrating Sun's leadership in JavaTM 2 Platform, Enterprise
Edition (J2EETM) application serving workloads.
The latest version of the SPECjAppServer2001 benchmark is designed to
assess J2EE application servers and JavaTM Virtual Machines
(JVMTM), along with the server Systems Under Test (SUT). The revised
benchmark is also able to test the Enterprise JavaBeansTM (EJBTM)
container in a J2EE 1.2 server. (NOTE: The terms "Java Virtual Machine"
and "JVM" mean a virtual machine for the JavaTM technology platform.)
