CollabNet SourceCast Collaborative Development Environment A Full Port to Solaris Operating Environment
CollabNet, a provider of collaborative software development solutions,
has produced a full port of the CollabNet SourceCast Collaborative
Development Environment (CDE) to the SolarisTM Operating Environment
(Solaris OE) as part of its multi-level relationship with Sun
Microsystems. CollabNet will also qualify the SunTM Open Net
Environment (Sun ONE) Studio for JavaTM Integrated Development
Environment (IDE) to utilize source-code repositories within the
CollabNet SourceCast environment. In addition, CollabNet is renewing
its Sun Developer Connection programSM membership.
Sun ONE Studio for Java is an IDE for JavaTM technology. Based on the
modular, open-source NetBeansTM software, Sun ONE Studio is ideal for
building and deploying Web Services across multiple hardware and
software platforms. Developers using the Sun ONE Studio IDE will be
able to directly check source code into and out of the software
configuration management system in the CollabNet SourceCast
environment.
The current development extends the existing long-term relationship
between the two companies. CollabNet is already working with Sun
Microsystems and providing the CollabNet SourceCast environment for
several Sun collaborative development projects, including NetBeans.org,
OpenOffice.org, JXTA.org, Sunsource.net, Grid Engine and Jini.org.
"CollabNet already has a solid relationship with Sun Microsystems and
we are excited to be announcing the next phase of our partnership,"
said Brian Behlendorf, co-founder and CTO, CollabNet. "Extending our
relationship with Sun through our support for the Solaris Operating
Environment and Sun ONE Studio, allows CollabNet customers to benefit
from the proven reliability and scalability of Sun technologies."
CollabNet customers in the fields of science and research, financial
services, telecommunications and healthcare realize value through
collaborative software development. Porting the CollabNet SourceCast
environment to Solaris allows CollabNet to offer its customers
additional levels of enterprise scalability, reliability and
stability.
"Sun has been working with CollabNet for more than two years. Through
our work with CollabNet, Sun has realized the benefits of Web-based
collaborative software development for our numerous Sun-sponsored open
source projects. By offering the CollabNet SourceCast environment on
Solaris [OE], CollabNet will provide its customers with the additional
benefits of the premier enterprise operating environment," said Danese
Cooper, senior manager, Open Source Programs Office, Sun Microsystems.
