Transition of Additional VERITAS File System 4-Tier Upgrade Licenses For Large Enterprise Computing Environments
Sun is transitioning the last 4-tier licenses for VERITAS File System
(completing the implementation of the 9-tier license structure for both
VERITAS Volume Manager and VERITAS File System). The last order date is
February 14, 2003, and the last ship date is May 16, 2003. The
transition is for customers who require upgrading to the new nine-tier
VERITAS File System licensing structure. Moving to 9-tier will provide
customers with optimal storage management by keeping in line with all
of Sun Microsystems' systems.
VERITAS File System is intended for large enterprise computing
environments, particularly those with large database servers,
high-performance file services, and online transaction processing
systems.
The following part numbers are the replacement 9-tier upgrade
licenses:
VFSSS-999-1C2B, VERITAS File System Tier Upgrade from Tier 1C to 2B
VFSSS-999-2B3A, VERITAS File System Tier Upgrade from Tier 2B to 3A
VFSSS-999-3C4B, VERITAS File System Tier Upgrade from Tier 3C to 4B
Customers are required to upgrade by a single tier at a time. For
example, if upgrading from tier 1A to a tier 2B the following part
numbers must be ordered:
VFSSS-999-1A1B VERITAS File System Tier Upgrade from Tier 1A to 1B
VFSSS-999-1B1C VERITAS File System Tier Upgrade from Tier 1B to 1C
VFSSS-999-1C2B VERITAS File System Tier Upgrade from Tier 1C to 2B
Customers with a Sun ServicesSM Software Only contract will receive
version upgrades for free from SunSM Services.
Compatible, third-party applicaitons are
VERITAS NetBackup, Solstice BackupTM software and VERITAS Volume
Manager.
