Sun has completed the acquisition of Pirus Networks Inc., a developer
of multi-protocol, multi-vendor intelligent storage platforms for
distributed open-systems environments. Pirus Networks has become a part of
Sun's Network Storage organization, which reports to Mark Canepa,
executive vice president. Pirus Networks'
virtualization technology will be integrated into Sun's existing end-to-end
storage architecture.
At the recent Supercomputing 2002 conference in Baltimore, Sun demonstrated cluster,
enterprise and global grids accessed via Sun ONE Grid Engine
software (formerly Sun Grid Engine) and how the software is
helping to enable HPTC users to
maximize and more efficiently allocate their compute resources. Sun also
demostrated other technologies.
