At the recent SunNetworkSM 2002 Conference, Sun and BEA announced a new joint support center for BEA and Sun customers. The Joint Support Center for the joint technologies will provide:

  • Convenient one-call service initiation
  • Specialized programs specifically focused on supporting BEA on Sun integrated application infrastructure
  • A cooperative support agreement to provide rapid interoperability resolutions
  • Predefined escalation processes that will streamline issues resolution
  • Access to engineers trained on both BEA and Sun products

Lab environments will also be provided worldwide for testing interoperability between BEA WebLogic and the JavaTM virtual machine (JVMTM) software and the SolarisTM Operating Environment (Solaris OE). (The terms 'Java virtual machine' and 'JVM' mean a virtual machine for the JavaTM platform.')

BEA and Sun are enhancing the established SunSM Vendor Integration Program (SunVIPSM) and providing faster response times to customer related issues to help minimize system downtime and achieve full interoperability.

"Sun and BEA share a joint vision to help our customers resolve support issues quickly while keeping our joint customer environments available 24x7," said Terry Barrett, Vice President and General Manager of Worldwide Support Services, BEA. "BEA's unified, simplified and extensible application infrastructure paired with Sun's forward-thinking infrastructure technologies for open network computing can provide premium solutions to customers."

The Joint Support Center will be available to customers with Sun's SunSpectrum PlatinumSM and SunSpectrum GoldSM contracts and with BEA's Mission Critical and Production Support contracts.
