The SunTM Open Net Environment (Sun ONE) Infrastructure Products: Services Integration (ECR-2323) course demonstrates how Sun offers an integrated product line of standards-based servers to build the infrastructure for SunTM ONE Services On Demand. The SunTM ONE Directory Server 5.x (formerly iPlanetTM Directory Server), SunTM ONE Portal Server 3.0 (formerly iPlanetTM Portal Server), SunTM ONE Web Server 6.0 (formerly iPlanetTM Web Server), SunTM ONE Application Server 6.5 (formerly iPlanetTM Application Server), SunTM ONE Message Queue 2.0 (formerly iPlanetTM Message Queue for JavaTM), and SunTM ONE Integration Server, EAI Edition 3.0 (formerly iPlanetTM Integration Server, B2B Edition) are described and positioned in relation to the Sun ONE platform. This course is lab-oriented and shows how these various servers work together to provide an open infrastructure to deploy real-life applications. The course does not present server-specific training. Other Sun ONE courses provide server-specific training.

To succeed fully in this course, students should have:

  • Some experience developing JavaTM 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EETM) applications

  • An understanding of Internet technology and applications

  • A basic understanding of Internet servers (preferably, Sun ONE servers) and protocols

  • A working familiarity with the SolarisTM Operating Environment (Solaris OE), especially the basic UNIXR system command-line interface

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Describe the features of the Sun ONE servers and how they contribute to an integrated Sun ONE architecture

  • List the major components of the Sun ONE architecture and the Sun ONE products

  • Personalize an out-of-the-box portal and link it to the Sun ONE Directory Server for Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) authentication

  • Deploy the Web Services module and Web Services applications on the Sun ONE Application Server and the Sun ONE Web Server

  • Install and configure Sun ONE Message Queue and deploy a chat application on it

  • Install and configure the Sun ONE Integration Server and the SunTM ONE Unified Development Server (formerly iPlanetTM Unified Development Server)

  • Create a SunTM ONE Integration Server Process Engine

  • Deploy two sales report Web Services and their clients on the Sun ONE Integration Server

  • Integrate into the portal a Web Services client that is based on JavaServer PagesTM (JSPTM) technology

Sun ONE Portal Server: Personalized Knowledge Services: Installation and Configuration (PTL-1314) is a new Web-based course that serves as an introduction to Sun ONE Portal Server: Personalized Knowledge Services, 3.01C. The course begins with an overview of the features and benefits of Sun ONE Portal Server: Personalized Knowledge Services.
